Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer and dancer. Some of her early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her time working with some of the most acclaimed actors and directors across theatre and on television. she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the musical. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first significant role. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. The actress has also been on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Ashford is from the city of Denver native who now divides her time in Los Angeles.
